|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: For Kong’s first session today we worked on his hold skill, focusing on duration. For this we used a quoits ring and had him in a drop position. Having him in a drop prevents him from pawing at the ring and helps keep him focused. We presented the ring in front of him and waited for him to show any behaviours. Immediately he started to mouth it, which we rewarded him for. After a while we withheld treats to create some healthy frustration, this forces him to display more behaviour which is closer to the result we want. He did just this and began to hold the ring a little longer each attempt. If he made a half attempt we would not reward it because we know he can do better! Keep practicing this, rewarding him for attempts that are longer and/or more desirable.||Focus: Duration||B+|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: For his second session today Kong worked some more on his rollover skill. He still really struggles with going the whole way over, so we worked on little increments. Luring him onto his side and slightly over was all we managed today. We tried him on a mat as well to see if it was the floor that made it uncomfortable but it didn’t help much. We are determined to teach him a rollover so keep working on this one at home to see if you can make any progress!||Focus: Repetition||C+|
|Skill learnt: Conditioning||Comment: For his last session today we gave Kong a lovely bath. He is such a good boy and climbed in by himself, sitting patiently for a treat. He was very calm for the entire bath and is now smelling super nice! Kong did so well today!||Focus: Conditioning||A+|
