Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For his first session today the trainer wanted to make Kong use his brain and did some shape training. The skill that was shaped today was his “chin rest” skill. To do this the trainer would present their hand and wait for Kong to push his chin into the trainers hand. After doing this a few times Kong was really pressing on the trainers hand and so they started ti add in the verbal or “chin” to this skill, he was to show us a start of understanding this verbal but may need a bit more training before progressing forward to the next step. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: For his second session the trainer worked on some more touch targeting with Kong. Today however he had a bit of a challenge. Usually the item we get him to touch is in our hand or is the hand itself, however today the trainer put down mobile touch poles which allowed them to be away from the trainer and helping increase his distance for this skill. Like most things Kong smashed this today being able to target what ever the trainer was pointing at with ease! Focus: Conditioning B+
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For his last session today the trainer did some more “put toys away” training to really get him tired and use that big brain if his! He was doing great bringing the toys back to the bucket however he still struggles a little bit leaving the toys in the bucket before grabbing the next one, to help with this the trainer would remove a toy as soon as he put it in the bucket forcing him to go to the next toy, this was repeated a few times until he was not trying to grab the toy already in the bucket, this was a big improvement today and the trainer is very pleased! Focus: Manners B
