Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Kong’s first session was drops in the kennel. He was very distracted by the dogs and also staff. He went into position easily but struggled to hold the drop while staff were reaching over him or walking around him. As the session progressed the people distraction left and Kong was holding position much better. Outside the kennel towards the end of the session Kong continued to hold his drops better. Only breaking a couple of times. Next time the goal would be to get Kong focused and holding position regardless of the distraction. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Kong’s second session was loose lead. It was going to be outside. However, when walking through the cattery Kong did not do well going passed some of the cats. The trainer did quite a few laps around the battery and by the end of the session King was walking passed the cats confidently. Well done Kong. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Ring the bell was Kong’s final session. It was a fun session with Kong. And both trainer and Kong had fun. It didn’t take Kong long to work out the bell meant treats. But when the trainer asked him to do a bit more with the bell, not just nose touch, it was great to see Kong really try to figure it out. Next time the trainers will work for more consistency. Focus: Repetition D+
