Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For her first session we worked on drops with a focus on building her duration. Koda is very food motivated so did quite well with this. She followed the lure immediately into drop each time and while she did pop up a number of times she did start to improve her duration with frequent treats while she maintained the skill. She was also quite responsive to the release word and following a treat out of the skill. We also started reducing the lure which she did well with by just following the hand signal and verbal cue into drop. At home work on fading out the lure and building her duration so that we can start on distractions next time. Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For her second session we worked on place with Koda. Koda happily followed lures onto place and had good duration so we started building small movement distractions. Initially Koda would get off each time the trainer moved away but she did improve over the session and started remaining on place while the trainer took a few steps away. At home build up the distraction level for her, starting with small distractions like taking a few steps away. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For her final session we worked on some foundations of loose lead. She was a bit distracted by other people on the classroom but focused well when treats were involved. We focused on engagement building and having her respond to light lead pressure for turns and when she pulled ahead. She did quite well with the basics and finished off with a few minutes on place to settle and while another big dog came out. Focus: Foundation C+

We recommend your next step should be…
