Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: First session Koda started learning middles! This skill is a great control position, safety skill and a great skill to help with recall training! The aim of the skill is Koda comes in between your legs and sits and waits for his release word. This helps with recall as he has to come to you to do the skill. Koda is still in early stages of this being lured between the trainers legs and into a sit but is progressing well. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Kodas second session we worked on his bed skill, today we worked outside for a different environment and added distraction level. This was definitely a bit of a challenge for Mr Koda initially, he was quite distracted by the sounds of the boarding dogs barking and all the smells on the grass. He did begin to settle as the session progressed and able to hold his duration while the trainer took small steps around the bed. When working in new environments it’s important not to push too many external distractions to set Koda up for success! Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Recall Comment: Final session Koda worked on his recalls. Today we worked out on the pavement focusing on his engagement and repetition on the skill. Koda did quite well out here although he was initially a bit distracted, to help with this we did some sit repetitions to build up his engagement before moving onto the recall. Koda did well coming back to the trainer when called but did need a lure at times to finish in a sit. Keep working on this at home gradually increasing distractions. Focus: Distraction C+

We recommend your next step should be…
