|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: For his first session we worked on Kipi's drops outside to help when he gets dropped off (so he will drop easily in the carpark). The first few times he struggled with distractions and wouldn't drop when first asked. After a few drops though he started paying attention more and would drop when asked on both the grass and gravel. His duration in the drop was very good and he didn't get up until released. Next time we'd like to have Kipi dropping from the start when asked as being able to drop in the distracting environment of the carpark is important for his drop off. Keep practicing drops on different environments and around distractions to make sure it is strong.||Focus: Distraction||B+|
|Skill learnt: Muzzle Conditioning||Comment: For his second session we continued work on conditioning Kipi to a muzzle. He understands to put his nose in easily enough but struggles with any kind of duration in it. Today's focus was to encourage him to hold his nose in for a second and to make sure he fully puts his nose into the muzzle. He did well but this is a skill that will need a lot more work before he is fine with it. Next time we'd like to continue encouraging him to hold his nose in it longer so that we can start building duration and tolerance if it. At home have him put his nose into the muzzle and continually give him treats while he does.||Focus: Repetition||B|
|Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object)||Comment: For his last session we did a mix of two of Kipi's trick skills: button press and paws up. His button press is very good though he does still sometimes drag it only the floor instead of just interacting with it! For his paws up skill he was a bit unsure at the start but we were able to progress to one paw on the bucket and then jackpot his reward when he put two paws on it. Funnily, after doing his paws up he did interact with two paws on the button press! 😂 Next time we'd like to continue with Kipi's trick skills as he is gaining so much confidence from doing them. Keep up the great work at home with his tricks, he enjoys them so much!||Focus: Repetition||B+|
