Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her first session we continued work on Kimchi’s sit pretty skill. Her balance is much better this week though she can sometimes get overexcited and just jump up for the treat rather than staying in the sit position. Making sure she is properly in the sit and taking it slow does help her keep her focus and concentration. We will continue working on her balance for this skill so that she can hold herself up without using aid from the trainer. Focus: Foundation B
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: For Kimchi’s second session we worked on her touch skill. She progressed extremely well throughout the session and picked up the skill quickly. To start with Kimchi was not quiet getting the skill as we used a cone placed on the floor. She started to get frustrated and was touching the trainer’s finger instead, so we took a step back to help her. We did this by holding the cone in the air, she picked it up almost immediately. After a few repetitions we placed the cone back onto the floor, she took about a minute to adjust but within no time was performing the skill with the cone on the floor. Focus: Obedience B
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: The third session we worked on the skill middles. Kimchi has progressed really well in this skill. Today we tested the skill with different distances and angles. She did really well to adjust to both of the progressions. We were able to get to 2 meters distance and a 90-degree angle. At the end of the session Kimchi did struggle to focus on her trainer as there was another dog playing red light green light and her excitement levels were extremely high. The next progression for her middle’s skill is to increase the distance and angles even further. Focus: Distance A
