Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Kimchi’s first session we worked on her roll over skill. This skill is useful for helping them to concentrate. Kimchi did really well and progressed well throughout her session. At the begging Kimchi needed a lure to perform roll over however we could quickly progress to fading out the food lure into just a hand signal and verbal queue. She was rolling over majority of the time and while there were a few times she would get stuck on her back, with a bit of encouragement she would roll the full way over. The next step for Kimchi will be to continue working on her Roll over skill with just a hand signal and verbal queue. Focus: Repetition A
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Kimchi’s second session we worked on RLGL place. This is useful as it teaches the dog to go from high energy to low quickly. Kimchi did really well during this session and went to place every time besides once however even then as soon as she was told ‘uh uh’ she corrected herself and went to place. We used a tug toy for play, and she loved it but also let go as soon as she was told ‘out’. The next step for Kimchi will be to continue working on getting her energy levels up even more and then sending her to place. Focus: Distraction A+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For Kimchi’s last session we worked on her emergency drops. This skill is important as it tests Kimchi’s drop skill in important situations. We started off slow by just walking and asking her to drop. To begin with Kimchi was struggling and wasn’t dropping and instead kept walking with the training. However, after she was told ‘uh uh’ she would correct herself and drop. After a few uses of ‘Uh uh’ she began to drop when asked even if the trainer kept walking. Since she started to do well at walking pace we increased to a jog, and she still did really well. The next step for Kimchi will be to increase the speed even more. Focus: Repetition B+

We recommend your next step should be…
