|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building)||Comment: For Kiki’s first session the trainer introduced him to the obstacle course. This course helps dogs experience different things underfoot and around them, building their confidence and having fun. Before the trainer had even shut the gate Kiki was half way around the course! Needless to say Kiki had a lot of fun this session and had no problems at all navigating the course, in both directions!||Focus: Repetition||B+|
|Skill learnt: Targeting (touch)||Comment: Touch was the focus on Kiki’s second session. The trainer took him back to the basics of the skill again to refresh Kiki on what he had to do. Not long into the session Kiki was locating the touch stick even when it was away from him, so he could get his treat. The trainer added in the word touch towards the end of the session. To help enforce the word to the action the touch stick was kept near Kiki and yes, treat, every time he touched it. Next time the trainer would like to add distance to the command.||Focus: Repetition||B|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: For Kiki’s final session the trainer worked on the around skill. Starting with the cone and the bed gives Kiki direction to understand what he needs to do easier than if going around an object alone. As the session progressed the trainer just worked with the cone. Kiki was easily distracted today by other dogs in the classroom but by the end of the session he was more focus. Next time the trainer would like to seem Kiki not be so distracted and to be lured less with food around the cone. As this is an easy skill to practice at home keep practicing to slowly fade out the lure.||Focus: Repetition||C+|
