Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Khan’s first session was loose lead walking which started straight from the kennels. Loose lead walking is a skill dogs need to learn for walks to be enjoyable for all involved. Khan struggled at first with pulling. However the trainer kept changing direction and use the treats as a lure and Khan progressed well throughout the session. He also came across some farm animals and after a bit was keen to put his focus back on the trainer and the treats. The goal for Khan is to continue walking well on the lead but from the start of the session. Focus: Repetition D+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: The second session for Khan was place training. This is a skill that teaches dogs to have a place to be calm on despite the distractions. Great for when visitors come to the house. The trainer started by luring Khan onto place and it wasn’t long before he worked out what he needed to do. The trainer then started working on Khan staying in the place, rather than getting straight off. Next time the trainers will work further on duration and add in distractions. Focus: Duration D+
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Khan’s final session was the confidence course. A great place for young dogs to experience different sensations underfoot and around them. Khan was a bit hesitant at first, especially with the overhead pool noodles. But by the end of the session he was happily racing around the course. Well done Khan. Focus: Repetition X
