Jenson's Doggy Dayschool Report

It was a PLEASURE training with your pooch today and we look forward to continuing to help you achieve your goals, skills and improve your relationship.

Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

"I trained hard, I played hard! Please find below the skills we worked on and my results. I look forward to showing you what I learnt and working on them more with you!" If you have any questions about the skills we trained please feel free to contact todays trainer."

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For Jenson’s first session today we worked on his drop skill, particularly duration. He was very nervous to start with and was quite hesitant in the classroom but after a while he settled down and was taking treats! He knows the word drop so he was easily put into position, however, as soon as the trainer stood up or stepped backwards he would jump up. To avoid this we got him into position, rewarded a few times and then released him using the word ‘break’. After a few repetitions of this he would stay in position until released and he did really well. To work on this further it just needs practice! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Targeting (touch) Comment: For Jenson’s second session today we had him working on his targeting skill. This means getting him to touch an object with his nose. We used a touch stick which has a red ball on one end. To start with, if he looked at it, we rewarded it then we would progress to him sniffing it and then finally physically touching it with his nose. By the end of the session he was smashing it out repetitively and was doing it really well considering he wasn’t that interested in it at the start. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: For Jenson’s last session today we got him working on his paws up skill. He was very hesitant to put any paw on the pod even using a lure to coax him onto it. This is a good skill to teach because it helps them with confidence and balance. We managed to get contact with one foot on the pod which is better than nothing! To work on this further he just needs practice and lots of encouragement. Focus: Confidence C+
