Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Jaxx started off his day doing some ‘place training’, focusing on sending to and from with plenty of dog and trainer distractions in the classroom. He did really well! Although he was not taking treats this first session, the trainer was sure to reward him with plenty of affection and love. Keep practicing his place skill at home and increase his distraction levels as he is a clever boy! Good work, Jaxx! Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Next up, Jaxx worked on his ‘loose lead’ walking both outside and in the cattery. Jaxx still was not taking treats, so the trainer continued to give him love and pets as his reward, which he happily accepted! Jaxx has beautiful walking and responds to “ah ah” perfectly if he is walking too fast. He lacks engagement and checking in with the trainer, but began to if the trainer used his name or made weird noises. Keep practicing building his engagement at home, you could use even yummier treats or squeaky toys! Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: To finish up, Jaxx worked on his ‘drop’ skill, focusing on distractions. Jaxx did awesome! He dropped every time, exactly when asked and even remained in position while the trainer spelt his name with kibble. Jaxx still wasn’t the biggest treat eater today, but this trainer was completely new to him. There were a few odd times where he would attempt to break, but with the use of “ah ah” he would plop right back down. Keep pushing this skill at home to keep it nice and strong! Focus: Distraction B+
