|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Desensitisation||Comment: Jax first session was place with grooming. First the trainer worked just on place to remind Jax what he needed to do. Then while Jax was on place the trainer gave Jax a good brush. With focus on back legs and also his face and head. He was very fidgety but using the yes marker and treats helped. The trainer used it frequently at first but as the session progressed the trainer was able to lessen the frequency of treats. The trainer by the end of the session had brushed all four legs and around Jax’s face. Wouldn’t say he loved it but he tolerated it!||Focus: Repetition||B|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Next session the trainer took Jax to the office to practice drops. He was super excited and jumped up at the counter to say hello to Lucy. Once the trainer got him in a drop he did break a few times. Utilising the foot brake and rewards Jax progressed well. The trainer then got Lucy to walk around the office and although he broke once Jax did really well and managed to contain his excitement and stay in a drop.||Focus: Distraction||B|
|Skill learnt: Conditioning||Comment: Last session for Jax was making use of the people who were standing around talking. He was quite excited to head up the driveway towards them and pulled and didn’t want to hold drop. The trainer had to work hard to keep Jax in a controlled position a little way away from the group. Towards the end of the session he was doing well and was holding a drop with people moving around him. Certainly goals moving forward would be to have Jax be much more settled around people. But it was an awesome start.||Focus: Distraction||C|
