Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: This week the doggies attended their first art class with the trainers. This involved a session full of enrichment and fun, stimulating the dogs mentally as well as using the opportunity to condition the environment and make something beautiful to take home. Focus: Confidence C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Jaime’s second session the trainer worked on place. Jamie has a good grasp of this command and was able to send to place from a short distance. When he was on place he broke a couple of times when other people were around but as the session progressed he settled nicely. During the day the trainer also had him on a passive place while other dogs were trained around him. He did well only breaking a couple of times. This is something that you can practice at home. Next time the trainer would like to see Jamie not breaking at all when there are other people around. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Jamie’s last session was drop. Again he has a good grasp of this skill but breaks the position easily if there are other people around. The trainer worked on this particular distraction with Jamie and towards the end of the session he was starting to hold the position better. The trainer would like to work on this more next time to ensure that Jamie does not break at all when there are people around. Focus: Distraction C+
