Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Jamie’s first session today was all about drops in the classroom. There were a couple other dogs training at the same time so it was a perfect opportunity to test his drops with distractions. He was quite excitable for his first session and lacked a little bit of engagement so we practiced his drops with a lire a couple times so he would start to focus. After this we could do it without a treat and simply a verbal cue. Jamie has great knowledge of this skill and only became distracted by other people walking past. However he didn’t break position and only stood up when released. Keep practicing his drops with new and fun distractions. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: His second session today was focused on his loose lead walking outside. We found a nice shady area and practiced walking up and down. It was a grassed area near a fountain so this this provided some visual and scent distractions for him. Jamie didn’t take much convincing to direct around so it was a good session to really push his skill. Keep doing what you’re doing with his loose lead walking, he is a natural. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: For Jamie’s last session today we pushed his place skill in the cattery. We worked on sending him to the cattery at a distance. We started close and slowly built up to the full extension of the lead. A few times we went beyond that and were able to let go as he ran to the bed (it’s very safe and secure in the cattery). Jamie’s place skill is very solid, he has great knowledge and would jump onto the bed and turn around for his treat! Keep pushing this skill, perhaps even doing it outside and seeing how he goes. Maybe experimenting and taking it to a park! Focus: Distance B+

We recommend your next step should be…
