Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Middle Position Comment: Holly’s first session today focused on her middles skill from different angles. We practiced outside since she is showing some great understanding of this skill. We worked from the front, side and back. Holly smashed doing it from the front and turning around, she did struggle a little bit side on so we reintroduced the lure. Holly is doing great with this skill, have fun with it and keep working on improving her knowledge. For the last part of her session we practiced her drop skill outside, we worked mainly on duration with some mild trainer distraction. She did really well and was very engaged with the trainer, keep working on her drops it never hurts to refresh! Focus: Repetition B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her second session today Holly worked on her quoits. We focused primarily on getting her to move the ring somewhat closer to the base/pole. To do this we encouraged her to pick up the ring and then tapped the pole once she had it in her mouth. This seemed to help her understand the task a little more and she successfully brought the ring closer each time! Keep pushing her with this one, once they have that light bulb moment it’s awesome to see! Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Ring a Bell Comment: Holly’s last session today focused on getting her to ring a bell and finished up with some loose lead. To start the session we sat in front of the bell and waited for her to show some behaviour towards it. Straight away she started to touch the rope with her nose, we were able to shape this into her biting it. She didn’t get the bell to ring during this session but she is reliably biting the rope, we just have to get her to bite and pull at the same time. To finish the session off we went outside and practiced some of her loose lead walking on the grass (high distractions). She occasionally got distracted by a nice smell but so long as she didn’t pull towards it we let her sniff it. Keep working on her tricks and loose lead walking she is progressing really well in all aspects! Focus: Foundation C+
