Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For her first session today Hera worked on conditioning to “search”. For this we worked in the cattery around the cats and also one other dog. We practiced search right in front of cat pens that were full, this tested her. She struggled a bit when the cats were moving but would still eat the treats scattered on the floor. When the other dog entered the cattery we were very frequent with the treats and saying “search”. Hera did really well with this, we started at a large distance and the other dog and trainer gradually decreased the distance. We were working within approx. 10 metres of each other. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For her second session today Hera worked on her walk behind skill in the classroom with another dog present. Hera was super focused and followed the lure really well! We practiced just walking up and down the classroom, there was one moment when both dogs started to bark at each other but we were able to utilise the search skill and redirect Hera into something productive! Keep working on this one she is doing so well. She was exhausted after this session and decided to lay down by the trainers feet while dogs were moving around the classroom. Focus: Distraction B+
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: For her last session today we worked on something fun. We recently got a new wobble board that is taller and squishier than our other one. We used a treat to lure Hera on and she was a little hesitant to start with but after a while she began to put her front feet on. This wobble board is large enough for her to stand on completely so that is the end goal! She did really well with this, it’s not only good for confidence but also balance and body conditioning! Focus: Confidence B
