Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: In his first session, Henry focused on further developing his skill loose lead walking within the classroom, while four dogs were visible in crates. Henry was initially excited about trainings and distracted by the classroom environment. As the session progressed the trainer used a lure to encourage him to walk on the left-hand side and redirect his focus. Henry slowly began to redirect his focus and show good engagement towards the trainer. Focus: Foundation C
Skill learnt: Crate Training Comment: In his second session, Henry focused on further developing his skill drop, within the classroom with three dogs in close proximity. We focused on this skill to build his knowledge and understanding as well as building his impulse control. Henry was initially distracted by the environment and struggled to respond to the verbal cue drop. The trainer went back to basics and lured him into the position several times, after this the lure was faded quickly as he was progressing well. Once in drop he can struggle with duration, the trainer utilized the remainder of the session to focus on building his duration. He did break several times but progressed well throughout the session. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In his final session, Henry focused on further developing his skill place, while another dog was training within the classroom. Henry was initially unsure about the bed and hesitant to walk on. However, with some treats he quickly began to run straight on. Once on the bed he can struggle with duration but progressed well throughout the session. Focus: Foundation C
