Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: First up for Harper was the confidence course. This was to help Harper have some wins on the board before starting training. As she has stepped back a little with reactivity. The trainer wanted to make sure she started her training day well. And she did. Harper was really happy to set off without the trainer. Fantastic to see. Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: Next session was shake paws. In the classroom was a very noisy dog and Harper did a great job of ignoring him throughout the session. Harper was a little slow to want to start this session so the trainer enjoyed some cuddles and before long Harper was working hard to get the treats. By the end of the session the trainer was able to hold Harpers paw and play with her nails a little before Harper pulled away. Keep practicing at home with high value treats. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Lastly for Harper was muzzle training. The first part of the session was doing some general conditioning again with Harper. Getting her to put her nose in and rewarding. When she was comfortable doing this the trainer then put the muzzle up and took Harper for a walk. Harper did a great job and although she tried to get the muzzle off a couple of times, the trainer used the Uhuh word and kept Harper walking. Keep the muzzle training fun. She’s doing a fantastic job with it! Well done Harper. Focus: Repetition B
