Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Halo’s first session was loose lead walking. Today there were a few distractions around in the form of other animals and birds as well as the wind blowing things around. As such Halo did struggle to start with and the trainer didn’t travel far without having to change direction. However by the end of the session Halo’s engagement was much better and responding to the yes marker. Going forward it is still a goal to get Halo walking well much sooner in the session. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: The trainer had a game of red light green light with Halo. This involved revving Halo up and the. Asking him to go on place. It was hard to find a toy that Halo did get really excited about and in the end the trainer we ran around using her voice to hype Halo up. Halo did struggle a little at first and wanted to keep jumping on the trainer but did start to go to place as soon as he was told. Towards the end of the session Halo was distracted by another dog in the classroom and did break position a couple of times. Next time the aim would be that Halo ignores the other dogs. Focus: Repetition C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Halo’s final session was drop. Again Halo struggled around dog distraction in the classroom. Once that distraction left Halo was able to engage again and hold position again. The trainer took Halo outside and once she refocused from trying to smell everything he did well. Again goals going forward will be getting engagement and focus around other dogs. Focus: Distraction C+
