Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Gryffin started his day off with his Place skill, focusing on the foundations of the skill. We started the lesson luring Gryffin on with a treat before marking with yes and using his release marker to let him off the bed. After some repetition we were able to start just using the hand signal of a point towards then bed to get griffin to hop on, with Gryffin showing he was starting to understand the basics of the skill. Gryffin would step off before his release word periodically, although after some repetition he was happier to stay on the bed until let off. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Gryffin worked on this skill, using a treat to lure him down into his drop position. Gryffin was a bit confused at first with this skill, but after a bit of practice, Gryffin happily follow the treat down into the skill consistently. As we got to the end of the lesson, Gryffin was going into the skill with the hand gesture. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: We finished our day with Gryffin practicing his loose lead skill in the classroom. We focused on walking with Gryffin, getting him to fully engage with the trainer. Gryffin did well keeping his loose lead as we walked, pulling ahead every now and then, but doing a good job following by his trainers side. After a bit of practice, we started adding in small distractions to help push the skill as well. Focus: Distraction B
