Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: George had loose lead walking for his first session. This was done at the top car park with the horse in sight as well as people walking around. George was quite distracted at first and pulled but the trainer walked in a small area and used the yes marker and George soon started to focus. He did get distracted a little by the horse and the people still at times but overall improved and showed better engagement by the end of session. Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Next up for George was drop. The trainer practiced these in the classroom to start with then moved to the grassed training area. Once George was focusing better the trainer worked on duration with George and then started adding in the trainer running around George. George broke position every time the trainer started running. The trainer then upped the treats and slowly build up more time between treats and more running before rewarding George. This is something to work on but George did really well with this! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Loose lead walking was the last session and this time the trainer took George to the bottom car park. Again it took a bit for George to focus but the trainer worked in a small area and before long George was focusing well and the trainer was able to extend the work area! George had great engagement. Focus: Distraction B
