|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: For her first session today Freya practiced her loose lead walking and drops in the kennels! There are lots of different distractions including dogs, sounds and sights. Freya was quite excited to start with but we were able to gain her focus pretty quick by changing directions and not letting her pull off in front. Freya had great engagement with the trainer throughout this session. Keep working on her loose lead skill as it’s important for them to control their excitement, especially when they first start.||Focus: Distraction||A|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: Freya’s second session today was focused on her ring toss skill. Since she is still learning this we started with the basics, just getting her to pick up the ring and then drop it. Every time she picked it up we said “yes” and rewarded her. This can gradually be moved into her picking the ring up and placing it close to the ring. This trick has lots of little steps to it but she is showing some good progress!||Focus: Foundation||C+|
|Skill learnt: Leave||Comment: For her last session today Freya worked on “leave it”. To do this we held some treats in a closed fist and presented it to her, when she lost interest we said “yes” and rewarded her from our other hand. After a while she understood what was going on and we could start saying “leave it” when we presented the fist of treats. At the start she was quite persistent with trying to get treats but she cottoned on quickly. Keep working on this one, challenging her more and more with a slightly open hand.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
