|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: For Freya’s first session today we worked on her drops in the cattery. Freya was very hesitant to go into the cattery so we had to lure her through the door with some treats. Once we were in she was ok and we just let her sniff around. When we asked for a drop she did but she wasn’t taking treats. This shows that she is a bit unsure of her surroundings. After a few times of asking for a drop and releasing her in different locations around the cattery she did better. She started taking treats and even going up to the cat condos and having an explore. It’s important not to back away from environments that they’re unsure of but instead work on skills they know around these places to help them build confidence.||Focus: Confidence||B+|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: For her second session today we worked on Freya’s hold skill with the ring. She seemed to struggle with this and looked like she was getting confused with her chin rest skill. She kept placing her muzzle on top of the ring and showed no signs of mouthing the ring. To combat this we changed it up and used a wooden spoon instead. She only targeted this with her nose and still didn’t bite at it. Keep practicing this at home and really watch to see if she opens her mouth at all. If she does then jackpot it! She will get there, it can take a while for them to realise we want them to bite it, perhaps even using a toy that she carry’s around at home and start to capture that behaviour.||Focus: Foundation||C+|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: For Freya’s last session today we worked some more on her leg weave skill. Since it is still a new skill for Freya we still used the lure to help guide her through the trainers legs. Freya showed a little bit of progress with this skill and followed the lure quickly and confidently. This skill is much easier practiced at home without a lead as it is easy to get tangled. Keep practicing this one at home as Freya seems to really enjoy it! Eventually the treat can be faded out and she will be able to follow the hand signal, which is much the same as the treat lure. Freya did so well today and is showing good progress in all her skills.||Focus: Repetition||B|
