Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Freya began her day practicing her ‘hold’ trick, focusing on duration, so she can soon become a ring toss champion! When Freya is presented with the ring, she always at least mouths it, but the trainer began to use her non-reward marker “ah ah” and asked her to try again and Freya soon picked up that she had to grip it at least a little with her teeth, yay! By the end of the session Freya was able to hold the ring for nearly 1 whole second by herself! Keep practicing this skill at home and jack pot reward for the really good holds and normal rewards for others. Awesome work, Freya! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Next up, Freya practiced her ‘skateboard’ skill, also on the bigger board and focusing on pushing herself. Freys was much quicker to step on the board in comparison to Mojo and wasted no time in getting started! Freya needed a little extra push to get her started as the board is bigger than she is used to and therefore requires more momentum. Once she had her starting push, she was able to go the rest of the way, yay! However, towards the end of the session baby Freys often hopped off half way each time, but she was a bit tired by this point! Same with Mojo, try her in a different room, if not, condition her to the board, even if you just ask for paws up to begin with and build her duration with that. Great work Frey-Frey! Focus: Duration B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: To finish up, Freya worked on her ‘sit pretty’ trick, focusing on duration. Freya did pretty well!! She took a few goes to find her seating, but once she did it a couple times she was able to hold it for longer each time. Keep pushing this at home, but remember she is still using a pretty heavy lure. Once she is performing and holding duration for a couple seconds we can begin to phase out the lure. Super good work today!! Focus: Duration B
