Freda did well today! She was still a bit nervous, but even with a new trainer she performed well.

|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: Freda began her day practicing her ‘loose lead’ skill both inside and outside the classroom, sort of acting as a confidence walk to begin her day. Freda is still quite nervous, but we can see her progressing bit by bit! She was not taking treats this session so the trainer rewarded her engagement and good turns with pets and love, which she did not seem to mind! Keep practicing this skill at home and building her engagement by giving frequent rewards, which we can begin to ease once her attention to her walker gets better.||Focus: Confidence||B|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: Next up, Freda began to take treats so the trainer had her practice her ‘drop’ skill, still focusing on the foundation and luring her into it. At first she was only able to drop from a sit, but as the session went on she was able to follow a lure from a stand, which is awesome! Keep practicing this at home with her and releasing her (saying “break” or whatever you want her release word to be) and then repeating. Good work, Freda!||Focus: Foundation||A+|
|Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object)||Comment: For Freda’s last session, she worked on her ‘paws up’ skill, focusing on building her confidence. This skill is where Freda places her front paws on an object and is rewarded with treats for doing so. It teaches her to step out of her comfort zone and realise things are not so scary. She only properly performed this once (and of course once the camera was out she stopped, haha), but it was very good! Keep practicing this skill with her at home, just luring her onto an object, rewarding and then releasing her. Utilise anything you can find in your house; pots, pans, boxes, etc. Good work today, Freda!||Focus: Foundation||C|
