Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Frankie worked on their place skill today to start, working on building some confidence. We focused on trying to get Frankie engaged, giving them a job to do to help get her thinking about the skill rather than what she was nervous about. Frankie jumped on and off the bed consistently today, being helped with a bit of lead guidance. Frankie took treats on and off throughout the lesson, although there were periods they were too distracted to care about the food. As the lesson went on, Frankie spent more time on the bed; still not fully interacting with the trainer but more focused on the skill than when we started. Focus: Confidence C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Frankie continued with their loose lead. We walked between two spots in the room, getting Frankie to follow the trainer. Frankie kept trying to pull towards the door, hitting the end of the lead quite a bit. We practiced going between the two spots over and over, which after a bit of repetition, helped Frankie to start following where the trainer was going. She didn't really take treats this lesson, having one every now and then but spending the majority of the time not interested. After some practice, Frankie started to look where the trainer was going rather than keeping their eyes on the door. Focus: Confidence C
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Frankie went to the confidence course, with the goal of getting her to do a few laps. Once in the course, Frankie took off straight away, going around at her own pace. As she conquered one obstacle, it would take her less time to do the next. After a bit of repetition, Frankie started to zoom around the course, still taking a little bit of time in between each obstacle but quickly completing each one as she got the courage to take it on. By the end of the lesson, Frankie managed a lap without stopping. Focus: Confidence X
