|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down||Comment: In Evie’s first session we worked on her drop skill. As she is still learning the skill, we used a lure to get her into the position. Evie did really well with this and was following the lure into her drop position. By the end of the session Evie was even offering drops without the lure. The next step for Evie would be to slowly fade out the lure.||Focus: Foundation||B+|
|Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull)||Comment: For Evie’s second session we worked on her loose lead walking. Evie did really well and picked this up very quickly. We spent this session in the cattery where there were only low distractions. Evie did get distracted a few times and would start to walk off but by turning around and walking in the other direction her focus was regained. By the end of the session Evie was maintaining amazing eye contact with her training and this was achieved by lots of uses of the word ‘yes’ followed by a treat. Her next step will to be increasing her distractions.||Focus: Foundation||B+|
|Skill learnt: Crate Training||Comment: Evie’s third session was spent conditioning her to the crate. At the start Evie would resist going into the crate. To help her become more comfortable walking into the crate we used lures. To start with Evie was being lured into putting just one paw in and then rewarded. After multiple repetitions the trainer would increase the expectations, such as placing two paws in. By the end of the session Evie was walking fully into the crate. The trainer was even able to close the door and she remained calm. For Evie’s next session of crate conditioning the lure should be faded out.||Focus: Foundation||B+|
