Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Elton worked on his place skill In the classroom to work on his place skill. We focused on distance to begin with, taking a few steps back and sending him onto the bed. Elton needed a bit of repetition to understand that even when we were a little bit away from the bed, we still wanted him to engage in the skill. Once we had performed the skill multiple times, Elton picked this up and started performing the skill consistently. Focus: Distance B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: We continued working in the classroom on Elton’s drop skill. Elton will happily go down into the skill now but finds it a bit challenging to stay down in the skill so we focused on his duration. At the beginning of the lesson Elton was popping up quickly after going down into the skill, but after some repetition Elton was happier to stay down in his drop. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Elton went outside to work on his loose lead. As we worked, Elton was a bit distracted by some of the dogs in the paddocks nearby. Elton’s engagement was a bit lacking at this point as he wanted to go say hello to the other dogs but after a bit of repetition we got Elton’s focus back on the task. After a bit of repetition, Elton stuck by his trainer’s side while walking. Focus: Obedience B
