|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: The trainer took Elaine outside for her place session. The trainer wanted to introduce some more distractions for her and push her a bit. She did quite well, even when the ride on mower and trailer went by. The trainer found that Elaine, while happy to go to place once commanded, she quickly attempted to get off straight way to reach the smells. When Elaine was on place near the kennel dogs she was not holding place very well. Although not particularly bothered by the dog, it seemed the smell were more fun than staying on place. Next time the trainer would like to work some more on duration with Elaine. Getting her to stay on place for longer periods of time regardless of what is happening around her.||Focus: Duration||C|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: This week the doggies attended their first art class with the trainers. This involved a session full of enrichment and fun, stimulating the dogs mentally as well as using the opportunity to condition the environment and make something beautiful to take home.||Focus: Confidence||B|
|Skill learnt: Ring a Bell||Comment: To help build Elaine’s confidence the trainer started teaching Elaine to ring a bell. Trick training is a great way for a dog to gain confidence and with Elaine she is very food motivated so teaching her tricks is quite easy. The trainer started off rewarding Elaine every time she touched the bell. The trainer did this by holding Elaine’s treats near the bell. As Elaine got confidence with this the trainer only rewarded when Elaine rang the bell. Next time the trainer would like to work on this further until Elaine is ringing the bell without the food near the bell.||Focus: Repetition||D+|
