Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: For Elaine’s first session he tackled the obstacle course. This is a great way to build her confidence and expose her to different environments and items underfoot. She was very nervous making the first step to go around the course and lots of coaxing and praise was needed. She went around the full course a few times before deciding she didn’t want to do anymore. The trainer would really like to continue to expose Elaine to the course to build her confidence. Focus: Confidence C+
Skill learnt: Ring a Bell Comment: For her second session the trainer continued with the trick ring the bell. The trainer back tracked a bit to refresh Elaine with what she did last time and then continued on with the skill. This time the trainer did not reward until Elaine got the bell to actually ring. It was great to see Elaine trying to figure it out to get the treat. She learnt she needed to get the bell to ring but didn’t know how she was doing it. The trainer would like to continue working on this with Elaine at her next session. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: The third session for Elaine was paws up. Again more confidence building for her. She either has a good grasp of this already or picked it up quickly. So the trainer started to introduce her to putting all four feet on the wobbly place. This is a skill that she will need to continue to work on as she was nervous about completing it. However, she was eager to please kept trying to work hard for the treats! Focus: Repetition C
