Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Duchess began her day with a confidence walk around the facility as it has been a while since her last day school. She enjoyed having free range to take the trainer wherever she wanted and accepted lots of pets along the way. The last couple minutes of this session was focused in the classroom and just beginning to get used to it again, while having another calm dog in the room. Today is just going to be about attempting to build her confidence! Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up, continuing with the confidence building, the trainer incorporated the use of her ‘place training’, guiding her onto and off of it. As she has not been taking treats, the trainer rewarded her with plenty of love and cuddles to help boost her confidence and attempt to get her more comfortable. She was still a little unsettled, but was able to sit on place and watch the other dogs train. Practice her place training at home though, luring her onto and off of it with treats if she is still learning, and progress into using a hand signal/verbal cue. Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: To finish up, Duchess had another confidence walk and cuddles as we wanted her to finish on a positive note. The majority of this session was held in the cattery as she seemed to be more settled and calm there. She accepted lots of pets from the trainer and was able to settle herself enough into a sit. The last 5 or so minutes was back outside just enjoying the sunshine. We would love to see her more regularly to help and watch her confidence grow! Maybe for her next day school try packing some of her own treats or toys so we can see if that helps! Focus: Confidence X
