Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For Duchess’s first session we worked on conditioning her to the trainer. When the trainer first entered the kennel Duchess had her tail very low and went to the corner. The trainer instead of approaching, gave Duchess her space and went to the other corner where she continued to ignore Duchess. The trainer often threw treats to Duchess however didn’t push her by going up to pat her. Instead Duchess was given the space and was able to approach the trainer on her terms letting her be more comfortable. After a few minutes Duchess came up to the trainer and started to sniff her. The trainer then proceeded to place the lead on and headed up to the training room. Getting to the training room took alot of encouragement. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For Duchess’s second session we worked on conditioning her to the classroom. Duchess came into the classroom very nervous and overwhelmed. The trainer simply sat with Duchess while she adjusted to the classroom, offering cuddles and treats. Duchess still wasn’t taking treats however was accepting pats from the trainer. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: For Duchess’s third session we continued conditioning her to the classroom. As she still wasn’t taking treats and was unsure of the new environment we let her walk around exploring. Duchess did appear more comfortable in the classroom to the end of the session however she still wasn’t taking treats. Hopefully next dayschool she will continue to work on building some confidence in the classroom and begin to take treats so we can work on some skills! Focus: Conditioning X
