Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Diesels first session we worked on his Quoits skill. This skill is good for pushing his thinking. Diesel absolutely smashed this session and was able to get the ring on the stick around 20 times. He even put all of the rings stacked on top by the end. To get to this point the trainer would tell Diesel ‘yes’ and reward him if he hit the stick with the ring. However after he had done so well she started to only reward him if he put the ring onto the stick otherwise he was told ‘nope’ (try again). The next step for Diesel will be to continue working on his Quoits skill getting him to consistently place the ring into the stick. Focus: Repetition A+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Diesels second session we worked on his sit pretty skill. This is a good skill for building muscle. This session was spent trying to fade out the lure. Diesel did really well towards the end and only needed a verbal cue (pretty) and hand signal, no lure. The next step for Diesel will be to start getting him to hold sit pretty for longer Focus: Repetition A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Diesels last session we worked on his roll in a blanket skill. This is a good skill to push his thinking. To begin with we started by getting Diesel to just grab the blanket. After he started to hold the blanket for a few seconds, the trainer started to ask him to hold and then straight away told him to roll over. While at times Diesel would let go of the blankets, a few times he did hold it while he started to roll over. The next step for Diesel will be to get him to hold it for longer while he rolls over. Focus: Foundation B
