|We focused on
|Skill learnt: Drop/ Down
|Comment: First session Diesel worked on his drop skill. He was very excited and full of beans and took a bit of time to settle in the class. He still needed a treat lure paired with the verbal cue drop to get into position and was quick to hop back up before his release word. We spent the session doing lots of repetition of the skill and building short bursts of duration while beginning to fade out the treat lure. Keep working on this at home and building duration before adding distractions.
|Focus: Back to Basics
|Skill learnt: Place Training
|Comment: Diesels second session we worked on his place skill. He was more settled this session and we were able to send him to place in fast repetitions and from higher energy, this will help at home to redirect overarousal/jumping behaviours. He still needs some guidance with a hand signal and can be quick to break early at times but is showing good progress. Keep working on this at home to strengthen the skill further.
|Skill learnt: Middle Position
|Comment: For Diesels final session we started working on middles. Middles is not only a fun skill it is a great control position and safety skill. To teach this we used treats to lure diesel between the trainers legs and into a sit position, then we marked yes, rewarded and released him. He is still in the early stages and needing the lure but with more practise you can begin to fade the lure out and have a hand signal as guidance.
We recommend your next step should be…

B: Great Work (80-89%) I mostly understand, Almost neat & complete! Needs practice in some areas. Mild distractions
C: Well Done (70-79%) Some good progress. Needs work, but on my way. Still learning. Low distractions.
D: Beginning (60-69%) My journey is just beginning, I don’t understand just yet. Introduction phase. No distraction.
E: Unable to Progress. Needs major focus, seek further options to assist.
X: Not gradable, the focus was on Enrichment, Socialisation & Engagement.
