Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Desensitisation Comment: For his first session today the trainer went to get him for training and he had already started his bath! To capitalise on the situation the trainer did some desensitisation training with grooming and bathing. To do this they would ask Diesel to get into a sit as he was being washed, every time he sat still he was rewarded and cuddled to be shown he was doing an awesome job! The wash itself was very easy however the blow dry was a little scarier for Diesel. But with the help of the trainer and some treats he was able to start calming down and allowing the groomer to blow dry him all over! This was a great first session! Focus: Desensitisation B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Since he had just had his bath the trainer had to do this loose lead walking session inside. In order to make sure we were progressing Diesel especially on this skill. To achieve this today while also keeping him clean the trainer set up some traffic cones in the classroom to use as barriers. The objective was Diesel had to keep close to the trainers left side as they weaved through the cones. Not only does this help train loose lead walking but it also conditions him to turning while on loose lead walks with both inside and outside turns. He did really well this session starting a bit distracted but then recovering quickly to start giving some great engagement and he started keeping really close to the trainer. Focus: Manners C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his last session today the trainer worked on his drop skill. They started off doing basic obedience but noticed he needed a little more work on his drop so focused on this. He had to be taken back to basics to start but was able to be progressed to working just outside the classroom! He did a really long drop outside with a distraction and stayed in his drop like a champ! They wanted to end the training there so did a little more loose lead walking outside, the days training must have seeped in because he was walking great for this last part of the session and even got into a sit when asked without the need of a treat! Focus: Duration C+
