Your journey does not end here, it has only just begun!

Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Diesel started off his day with some ‘loose lead’ walking outside with dog distractions. He was a little excitable at first but settled within 2 minutes and performed some beautiful loose lead walking, keeping great engagement with the trainer. Diesel did not show any reactivity towards this dog, but if you are experiencing this on your walks at home, pop him into a controlled position (sit or drop), get his attention and use his reward marker with treats. Stay like that for however long you feel necessary, then continue with your walk. Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Diesel’s next session was focused on his ‘place training’, sending to and from with high level distractions. We did some ‘red light green light’, which is where we razzed him up with toys and asked him to go to place and test how good his listening was. Diesel did extremely well and went to place exactly when asked, dropping the toy and waiting for his reward. He was also capable of doing this with dog distractions in the room, which is awesome! Keep up the great work at home! Focus: Distraction A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Last up, Diesel revisited his ‘soccer’ skill to end the day with some fun! He is really enjoying pushing the ball around with his nose, but we are working on building his duration with the push. He often just nudges it, but we are trying to get him to push the ball for several seconds before releasing. To achieve this we are starting to only reward his longer pushes, and “ah ah” his small ones. He is responding well to this and will get the hang of it in no time. Fantastic work today Diesel!! Focus: Duration B+
Skill learnt: Crate Training Comment: Diesel was in the crate during each of his training sessions and he was relaxed the whole time, even when having a doggo next to him! If you are having trouble with him relaxing at home, just reward him for his good behaviour and use his non-reward marker if he is crying and carrying on. Focus: Duration A+
