Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Conditioning Comment: Dante was a little nervous to start off in the classroom. He would eat kibble from the hand of the trainer but wouldn't follow thrown treats. After switching to fritz Dante did much better and we were able to condition his "yes" marker and start building engagement. He was quite good at ignoring the other dog in the room while chasing the treats around. Throughout the session his confidence did improve so that we could work on obedience skills in this next sessions. Focus: Conditioning X
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: For his second session we worked on loose lead. We started off in the classroom with another dog - he did pull a bit at the start but settled quite quickly into the walk. Once settled he did a great job and even mostly ignored the other dog. For the last 5 minutes we took him outside on the pavement, again he pulled a little but then settled and gave good engagement. At home practice in low to medium level distraction environments with a focus on engagement from him while walking (use treats often). Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: For his last session we worked on Dante's drops from a stand. This is great for emergencies to move him quickly into a controlled position. As he didn't seem familiar we worked on luring him into the position with fritz - after he started to get a few of them he got quicker and more confident moving into the drop. At home keep practising luring him into drop from stand and starting to build duration. Focus: Foundation C+
