Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Dakota’s first session was bow. The trainer put the yoga mat out to put it in context for Dakota. Dakota has a very good drop so she does struggle with bow. A couple of times the trainer caught Dakota before she fully dropped but other times the trainer used a hand under her. This worked well and at times the trainer was able to take the hand away and Dakota held position. This is a skill that is going to be a challenge for Dakota but she tried hard. Focus: Repetition C
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Next up was hold. Using the rubber ring Dakota was a little hesitant at first but was soon grabbing the ring. At first she wanted to pull it so using the Uhuh word was used and this helped Dakota to stop the game of tug. Then it was a case of encouraging Dakota to hold the ring for longer. Dakota was able to hold the ring for about 5 seconds. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: The focus of the last session was ring toss. Dakota is so good at picking up the ring and throwing it. However she is not making the connection with the wooden pole. The trainer started putting the ring on the pole and getting Dakota to take it off the pole. This is the aim that once she does this well then we can teach her to put it back on the pole. Lots of practice is what is going to help Dakota make the connection. She is so fun to train and lots of cuddles are had. Focus: Repetition B
