Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Crystal did so well for her first session, focusing on her “place.” We did this in the classroom, practicing lots of repetitions on and off the raised bed. There were two other dogs present (in crates) during the session, birds chirping and some cats visible in the next room. She showed good engagement, only looking at the other dogs occasionally - however her focus was easily redirected back to us. Keep working on this skill, she is doing great. Moving around her while she holds place is a great way to test her impulse control. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: This session was all about her drop and some exposure around the cattery. Crystal settled well in the crate between sessions, just watching staff and dogs move around - she only barked at a dog once, we made sure to use our “uh uh” marker when this happened. We practiced duration in her drop while the trainer moved around her, also working in close proximity to other dogs in crates. Crystal showed awesome understanding of her drop and release word “ok.” Well done! We finished off the session with a couple laps around the cattery, letting her explore a new environment and rewarding her for making good decisions! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: This session focused on building engagement and leash manners. We started in the classroom for some dog distractions then finished outside. She was a bit distracted outside but responded well to the trainer and would check in frequently. Keep working on her leash manners and building that focus, the more engaged she is with you the less she will focus on her surroundings. Focus: Distraction C+

We recommend your next step should be…
