Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: In her first session, Cookis focused on further developing her skill loose lead walking around the pet retreat facility. Cookie was initially excited to be training and distracted by the environment. The trainer used a lure to guide her into the correct position and reward engagement. As the session progressed her engagement improved and she began to walk nicely. Focus: Foundation C+
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In her second session, Cookie focused on further developing her skill down within the classroom around dog distractions. We focused on this skill to further develop her impulse control and build her duration. Cookie responds well to the verbal cue down with a low hand signal. While in this position she holds good duration when under little distractions. The trained started creating distance (moving away from her), this caused her to break initially, but with some guidance, she began to maintain it well. The trainer was able to walk around Cookie while she remained in drop. Focus: Foundation B+
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: In her final session, Cookie focused on further developing her skill place within the classroom. While working on this skill the trainers noticed she responds well to the verbal cue place and developed good duration throughout the session. To challenge Cookie further the trainers began to add distractions including balls and toys. Cookie was not bothered by the balls but was very interested in the squeaker toys. She initially broke when these were presented. With some guidance, she began to maintain her place while the squeaker was around her. Focus: Foundation B+
