Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For this session we worked on Cookie's sit pretty. She has improved quite a bit in her balance but does still struggle to hold it. The focus on the session today was to help her find her balance in it so that she can hold it better. She loves to follow the food in this which may be affecting her balance and she has herself angled up for the treat so phasing out treats would be something to look at working towards next time. Continue practicing her sit pretty every now and then at home to help her get used to the command ("pretty"). Mark the yes while she is in it but bring her back down the have the treat - this may help her not angle herself incorrectly to try and snatch the treat in the air. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For this session we worked on Cookie's Back Up skill. She has a great foundation with this skill and backs up really nicely with spatial pressure. The focus of this particular session was to get her to start responding to the command and hand gesture, as well as being able to back up onto a platform. Cookie did fantastic with both sets of criteria! She has started to understand the back up command without the trainer moving towards her which is great progress. For backing up onto an object she does need a lure to push her backwards onto it but did really well for the difficulty of having to step backwards onto the platform. She also held her position on the platform until released. Next time we'd like to continue phasing out lures and moving with her so that she can start doing the trick with minimal interaction. At home, work on getting her to move back (even if only a step or so) without any spatial pressure and continue conditioning the command to the skill. Focus: Repetition B+

Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Cookie did fantastic on passive place today! Even with a smaller bed she didn't break and settled well. Focus: Duration A
