Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Since it was so hot today the trainer worked cookie in the cool classroom in the hopes we get a full day or work out of her. For her first session the trainer worked on her “scooter” skill. She has been doing great with this and is now able to jump up onto the handlebars with the command “scoot”. Her issue with this skill is getting her back paws balanced on the scooter so the trainer focused on this today. Using a lure they made sure before she was rewarded she had all 4 paws touching the scooter (2 on the handlebars and 2 on the base) she was quick to pick this up and the trainer was actually able to push the scooter across the classroom while she stayed with all 4 paws on the scooter! Focus: Conditioning C+
Skill learnt: Muzzle Conditioning Comment: For her second session the trainer wanted to continue working on Cookies send to muzzle skill. Today they wanted to focus on proofing Cookie by putting the muzzle on weird angles or asking for muzzle in middles and other skills. Like usual she picked it up super quickly and was soon hitting the muzzle no matter what! However the trainer stumped her for a bit today! When asking her to do it in middles she kept (at first) trying to get in front of the trainer before trying to put the muzzle on! It didn’t take her long though to realise what the trainer was after and was hitting the mark easily! Focus: Distance A
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her last session today the trainer worked on some toy returns to finish the day with some fun! Again they wanted to keep her out of the sun today and so worked inside the classroom. The room was clear so the trainer was able to hide some of the balls and put the bucket in different hard to reach places! Making a game out of it like this keeps the skill new and interesting for cookie and also for the trainer was well! She was so fun this session zipping around the room and finding the balls before shooting back to the bucket! To make it harder for her the trainer would get cookie into a sit but facing the wall, only when she was facing the wall did they start putting the balls in different spots around the room, if she tried to peak the trainer would stop, get her back into a sit and then would start again. Focus: Repetition A+
