|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: In her first session, Cookie focused on further developing her skill 'back up' with repetitions under distraction (training in the Cattery). We focused on this skill as it is the first step in a bigger trick called 'handstand'. Cookie performed very well, she was distracted by the cats for the first 2 minutes, but with some guidance quickly redirected her focus. The trainer was very impressed with how quickly Cookie learnt this skill and her engagement throughout this session was amazing. We suggest continuing to practise this skill at home.||Focus: Foundation||B|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: In her second session, Cookie focused on further developing her skill ‘handstand’ with repetitions under distractions (training in the cattery and outside). We focused on this skill to challenge Cookie with an expert trick which will test her brain and create further awareness of her rear end. The trainer began by using her ‘back up’ skill to encourage her to raise her back paws onto a small step. Cookie was initially hesitant, but with some guidance and lots of yummy treats she slowly began to place her paws up. With lots of treats, cuddles and praise Cookie quickly began to perform very well. The trainer faded the lure and begin challenging her with new objects.||Focus: Foundation||C|
|Skill learnt: Trick Training||Comment: In her final session, Cookie focused on further developing her skill ‘handstand’ with repetitions under distractions (training in the cattery and outside). We focused on this skill again to further build Cookie’s confidence with using different surfaces including tree stump, inside step and balance cushion. Cookie performed very well, she can be hesitant on new objects but quickly regains her confidence. Next time we hope to begin increasing the high of the objects Cookie is backing onto. We suggest continuing to practice this at home.||Focus: Foundation||B|
