Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: In her first session, Cookie focused on further developing her manners while in drop to help her remain quiet and not bark. We focused on this as Cookie can become vocal when frustrated or ignored. The trainer used her known skill of drop and would reward her while she was quiet. During this session the trainer did several things, such as putting food in front of her, ignoring her and walking up to her to see if she would start to bark. Cookie did bark a little, but with some guidance from the trainer, she began to remain quiet. Focus: Manners B+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: In her second session, Cookie focused on further developing her skill jump for joy, working towards her jump rope skill. We focused on this skill as Cookie can still struggle to jump over the rope, to help build her understanding the trainer focused on getting her to just jump without the rope. Cookie was initially a little silly and struggled to jump without jumping on the trainer. To help her settle the trainer started Cookie in a sit then lured her to jump, this worked well. We would recommend contouring to practise this skill at home. Focus: Foundation B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: In a final session, cookie focused on learning a new skill that challenges her balance and concentration. This skill is to balance on a soccer ball. To start with the trainer did a few repetitions of getting cookie to balance onto an upturned small bucket which she performed very well at. After this, we place the soccer ball inside a bucket so it couldn't move and encouraged her with a lure to place her front paws onto it. Cookie initially struggled but with some help from the trainer, she followed the lure onto the ball. Focus: Foundation B

We recommend your next step should be…
