Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: Cookie was very cheeky and excitable first thing so we started off with settling her down in the classroom with a bit of a rundown through multiple skills including loose lead, drop, spin, twirl, middles, recall and orbit to get her focus better. For the last part of the session we worked on her valentines photo with her hold skill with a rose. She did struggle a bit to hold the item in her mouth - with the plastic covered one she kept chewing it a few times then spitting it out and struggled to find the right balance point hold for the rose bunch. Focus: Duration C+
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her second session we continued on with her chorus kicks skill. She was a bit mouthy again at the beginning but switched quickly to paws but was dragging her paw along the trainer's arm rather than doing 'kicks'. She also kept breaking out of middles after a few kicks to get her treat. We did find that lightly holding onto her collar whole doing this did help her to not come out of middles and we worked on bringing the hand signal up a bit to encourage her to just 'kick' the leg rather than trying to make contact with the trainer. She was less frustrated today so it was a good chance to start sharpening up the foundation parts. As we continue raising the hand signal we should be able to start having the trainer move their feet to match. Focus: Repetition B
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For her last session we worked on Cookie's sit pretty while holding an object (soft plush toy) in her arms. She was a bit cheeky with this skill today - we know she can do it but she kept using the trainer for balance or only being able to hold the item while in a normal sit. We know she can sometimes pretend she doesn't know skills as well as she does so we kept at it to let her know she needs to still do it. We got a few almost holds by the end but not quite the shot we wanted. Focus: Duration C+

We recommend your next step should be…
