Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: Cole’s first session was loose lead walking. The trainer did this outside in the car park. Although this does provide distraction it is a less of a distraction than the grassed area. Cole did struggled at first but as the session progressed and the trainer only worked in a small area, Cole improved! Every time he pulled the trainer changed direction and used the yes marker to help keep Cole focused. At home continue in very low distracting environments and use treats to help lure and reward. Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Second session was place. This was done In the classroom with low distractions, however, Cole really did struggle and was getting off place the minute the trainer looked like moving. Cole did improve a little. At home his place needs to move around and provide a lot of different distractions in different environments. Focus: Duration C
Skill learnt: Trick Training Comment: For Cole’s final session the trainer used the treat and train to help teach Cole to ring the bell. First the trainer rewarded Cole for looking at the bell. As the session continued Cole was soon touching the bell with his nose to get the treat. He did get a bit over enthused and wanted to pick up the bell with his mouth. Next time it would be good to see Cole progress further with this to actually ringing the bell. Focus: Repetition C
