|Skill||Comment||We focused on||Grade|
|Skill learnt: Place Training||Comment: Coco’s first session today was place training. A great skill to help dogs learn to self settle, and use impulse control. Coco did well with this although at first she was very keen to jump off and follow the trainer as the trainer moved. As the session progressed Coco started to think about what she needed to do and was heavily rewarded for this. The trainer then blew bubbles near Coco. This proved to be a big distraction for Coco. But by the end of the session she was holding place much better.||Focus: Repetition||C+|
|Skill learnt: Sit||Comment: Next session was sit. This is an important skill as it can help with jumping, manners and impulse control. Coco didn’t appear to know the command sit, so the trainer used a lure to get Coco into the sitting position and the rewarded her. As the session continued Coco held the sit for a longer period rather than just popping back up again. Keep working on this at home using a food lure and helping Coco to hold the position for longer.||Focus: Repetition||C|
|Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building)||Comment: Final session for Coco was the confidence course. This helps dogs experience different things underfoot and overhead! Coco was very hesitant at the start and had to be coaxed around the first couple of times. After that she went through a number of times very confidentially. Go Coco.||Focus: Repetition||X|
