Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Obstacle Course (Confidence Building) Comment: Clarrie’s first session was the confidence course and he smashed it! He got in and while the trainer was latching the gate he ran around it by himself!! It was great to see and although he didn’t do it alone again it was a great step forward for him. He did go through a number of times after that but with trainer encouragement. Focus: Confidence X
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up was place (bed) for Clarrie and although he was still looking for the door he progressed well. At first he was breaking with trainer movement but as the session went on he was making good choices to stay on place. This session was also done around another dog and trainer which he was able to ignore. Great session Clarrie. At home keep the distractions low with lots of rewards Focus: Distraction C+
Skill learnt: Paws Up (on object) Comment: Next up for Clarrie was paws up. However the classroom was very loud today and Clarrie was quite nervous so the trainer sat with Clarrie for a little bit. When he settled and got used to the noise the trainer was able to get Clarrie to do paws up on the big step. The the next challenge was the smaller wobbly object. Clarrie did struggle with this but the trainer celebrated the small win of Clarrie putting one paw on! Keep practicing at home by luring onto different objects to help Clarrie build confidence. Focus: Repetition C
