Skill Comment We focused on Grade
Skill learnt: Loose Lead (No pull) Comment: First session for Chilli was loose lead walking and he was pulling a lot more today. As such the trainer only worked in a small area and changed direction frequency. As the session progressed Chilli did start to improve. Halfway through the session the trainer used an engagement game to get Chilli’s focus. This involved throwing treats on the ground and when Chilli looked to the trainer for the next one the trainer said yes and threw it. Focus: Distraction C
Skill learnt: Place Training Comment: Next up was place. Luckily the rain held off and Chilli was able to train outside. He smashed place even though when he was released it was nose straight to the ground. When directed back on place he went well straight back on. However, he was distracted by the sheep! He started to bath and broke place to pull towards them. The trainer popped him back in place and as soon as he stopped barking the trainer used the yes marker. This helped get Chilli’s attention back. By the end of the session Chilli was occasionally looking at the animals but was no longer barking or pulling towards them. Well done! Focus: Distraction B
Skill learnt: Drop/ Down Comment: Drops once again were a struggle for Chilli. He gets into position well but breaks very easily. The trainer worked hard to help Chilli to hold position. This involved increase use of the yes marker and treats. By the end of the session Chilli was holding better but there is much room for improvement. During this session Chilli was training around another dog and he did well to still focus on the trainer and not on the dog! Great work. Focus: Duration C
